Plerogyra (Bubble Corals)
Bubble Corals: Unique LPS Corals with Soft, Inflated Texture
Bubble corals add a rare shape and soft, inflated look to reef aquariums. At Corals Depot, each Bubble coral is selected for health, color, and strong polyp extension. Also known as Plerogyra corals, pearl coral, bladder coral, or grape coral, this large polyp stony coral is loved for its round vesicles, fleshy polyps, and unique bubble-like appearance.
This Plerogyra bubble coral, including Plerogyra sinuosa, can become a standout piece in a reef tank when placed with enough space and stable aquarium water. Bubble corals prefer low to moderate light, gentle water flow, and placement on the sand bed or stable lower rockwork where their soft tissue can expand without rubbing against sharp skeleton edges. During the day, the bubbles inflate beautifully, while long sweeper tentacles may extend at night, so give them room from neighboring coral.
Care Tips:
-
Place Bubble corals on the sand bed or secure lower rockwork.
-
Use low to moderate light and gentle water movement.
-
Feed occasionally with brine shrimp, chopped seafood, or coral food.
-
Keep stable water quality and space them away from nearby corals.
